dMAT fee: where the real number is
g.a.s.t. does not maintain a public price list for the dMAT — the fee is shown during registration. We will not quote a figure we cannot source, because a wrong exam fee is worse than no exam fee. What this page can do is tell you where the number is and what else sits around it.
Where the fee is published
- Open the registration for the current administration on d-mat.de.
- The fee for your test centre appears in the registration flow.
- Payment is handled by g.a.s.t. — not by APS India, and not by any consultancy.
If a third party quotes you a dMAT fee, check it against the registration flow before paying anyone. Registration is public and takes about fifteen minutes.
The costs around it
The dMAT is one line in a larger bill, and the others are easier to forget:
- The APS itself, which has its own fee and takes weeks.
- Travel to a test centre, since the dMAT is sat in person at one of ten Indian cities — a real cost if you are not near one.
- Language certification, if your programme is German-taught. That is the largest cost on the German route by a wide margin.
- Nothing for tuition, at public universities in almost every German state — which is why the route is worth the paperwork.
The good news about paying once
The dMAT certificate is valid indefinitely. There is no two-year clock as there is on IELTS, TOEFL or PTE, so the fee is paid once for a document that does not expire — and it is referenced on your APS certificate, which is itself the gate to every German application you make.
