TOEFL exam fee in India 2026, and every charge after it
The TOEFL iBT registration fee in India is US$173, quoted by ETS in dollars and excluding VAT or other applicable taxes. Because the fee is in dollars, what you actually pay moves with the exchange rate — budget with a margin rather than a converted figure you saw last month.

ETS prices exclude VAT and other applicable taxes except in EU countries, so the amount billed in India can be a little above the listed figure.
What the fee includes
- The test itself, at an authorised centre or as the TOEFL iBT Home Edition, taken at home with a live human proctor.
- Up to four free official score reports sent to institutions, agencies or other recipients.
- Recipients can be added through your ETS account until 10 p.m. on the day of your test — after that, each one is chargeable.
- Access to your scores in your ETS account, with a downloadable PDF report.
The 10 p.m. deadline is worth a calendar reminder. Adding your four universities before it costs nothing; adding them the next morning costs US$29 each.

A score review is a re-mark of a section you believe was scored below your performance. At US$80 for one section it is expensive relative to the test, and it is not refunded if the score does not change — which is the opposite of the IELTS arrangement, where a successful re-mark is refunded in full.

At US$173 plus tax, TOEFL sits close to IELTS (INR 19,000) and PTE (INR 18,900) once converted, and the differences that matter are in the extras rather than the headline:
- TOEFL gives four free score reports, then US$29 each.
- IELTS gives five free, then INR 350 each.
- PTE sends to unlimited institutions free.
