Master's scholarships in the UK for Indian students
Postgraduate funding is where most UK scholarship money sits, because the one-year taught master's is what most international students come for. The split is the same as everywhere in the UK: a few fully funded government schemes, and many partial university awards.

A one-year course changes the arithmetic
A partial award covers proportionally more of a one-year UK master's than the same percentage would of a two-year US one. A 30% award is close to a third of the whole degree, which is why the partial awards are worth taking seriously here rather than treating as consolation.
- Apply to Chevening and Commonwealth if you are genuinely competitive — they close about a year ahead.
- Apply to every university award at every institution you applied to.
- Check department pages, which carry awards the central office does not list.
- Check destination-independent Indian trusts and schemes, which fund UK study too.
Timing
- Autumn, a year ahead — the government schemes close.
- Winter — university applications, which unlock the university awards.
- Spring — offers, then the awards that require one.
- Summer — CAS, loan and visa.
