PTE eligibility: who can take it, and which PTE you need
PTE has no academic eligibility criteria: no minimum qualification, no percentage, no nationality restriction and no limit on attempts. What matters is bringing acceptable identification, and choosing the right PTE for what you are applying for — the wrong one is not accepted by explanation.
Identification
A valid passport is the identification used in India. The name on your booking must match it exactly, and you bring the original on test day. Start the passport before you start preparing if you do not hold one — it is the most common reason a student who is ready cannot book.
Age
There is no upper age limit. Test takers under 18 need parental or guardian consent on file before they can sit, and Pearson does not recommend the test for candidates under 16 — the content assumes an academic register that a younger candidate has not met yet.

PTE Core and PTE Academic are different tests for different governments. Booking Academic for a Canadian economic visa, or Core for a university application, wastes the fee — read the requirement on the official page for your route before you pay.
How many times you can take it
As often as you need. You may book a new test once the scores from your previous one have been released, and that can be within the same month. There is no cap and no cooling-off period, and universities read the score you send rather than the number of attempts behind it.
