Dubai Student Visa Fee Vibedu CounsellingBook Free Counselling

Dubai student visa fee

What a Dubai student visa costs, taken from the government's own published fee page. The application fee is rarely the whole cost, so the charges that sit beside it are set out below as well.

At a glance

VisaStudent residence permit (UAE) — issued in Dubai under the GDRFA-Dubai service "Issuing a residency permit to a student", and federally under ICP's "Issuing Residency Permit" (student category). It is always preceded by an entry permit filed by the sponsoring university. There is no separate "student visa" applied for at a UAE embassy in India — the accredited university/college acts as host and sponsor (a UAE-resident parent may sponsor instead).

The fee, as published

Government fees only, as published on the official service pages (university/agency service charges are extra and are not government fees). GDRFA-Dubai, "Issuing a residency permit to a student": residence permit AED 200 + Knowledge Dirham AED 10 + Innovation Dirham AED 10 + fee inside the country AED 500 + delivery AED 20; the issuance fee "increases by AED 100 annually whenever the residency is over two years". ICP (federal channel) publishes for issuing a residency permit: application fee AED 100 + residence permit issuance AED 100 per year + smart services fee AED 100 (AED 300 per year total). GDRFA study/training visit visa (used where a short study-purpose visit visa is issued instead): AED 200 for 30 days / AED 300 for 60 days / AED 400 for 180 days, plus 5% VAT, security deposit AED 1,000, deposit service fee AED 20 and deposit collection/reimbursement AED 40. Medical fitness test, Emirates ID and health insurance are charged separately and are not published as a single fixed national figure — confirm current amounts at the DHA-approved medical fitness centre and at ICP before you budget.

What the application fee does not cover

Almost every student visa route has costs beyond the application fee itself, and they are a material part of the budget rather than a rounding error.

  • Health surcharge or insurance, which several countries require up front for the whole course length.
  • Biometrics, where it is charged separately from the application.
  • Document costs — attestation, notarisation, certified translations, courier.
  • The financial requirement itself, which is money you must hold rather than spend, and is usually the largest number in the process.
  • Dependant applications, each charged separately.

Before you budget from this page

  1. Check the date this page was last verified, printed at the foot.
  2. Open the official source linked there and confirm the current figure.
  3. Check whether your route — the specific visa subclass or category — carries the same fee.
  4. Add the surrounding costs above before deciding what the visa stage will cost you.

Visa fees are revised on government timetables rather than annual ones, and a figure that was right last quarter can be wrong this one. The date at the foot of this page is the honest limit of what we can tell you.

Fees — FAQs

2 questions

Application fees are generally not refunded on refusal. That is the usual position across student visa routes, and it is why getting the application right the first time matters more than the fee itself.

Yes, these fees are paid online during the application in nearly every route. Budget for the exchange rate and card charges on the day.
