NORKA Roots Student ID card
Kerala runs an ID card for Keralite students studying abroad, issued by NORKA Roots, the state government's non-resident Keralites agency. It was launched in April 2020 and carries personal accident insurance of Rs 4 lakh for death and up to Rs 2 lakh for permanent or partial disability. You apply once you are 18 and have completed admission, with your passport front and address pages and proof of your admission or study abroad. Registration is Rs 315 including GST, and renewal can be applied for three months before expiry.
This is an ID and insurance card, not a scholarship. NORKA's Pravasi Scholarship is a separate scheme, for children of returnee migrant workers studying in India.
