About University of Stirling
Stirling was founded in 1967 as one of Britain's post-Robbins new universities, and it was built on the grounds of the Airthrey estate — a single parkland campus wrapped around a loch, with an eighteenth-century castle at its centre and the Ochil Hills rising behind it. It is routinely named among the most beautiful campuses in Europe, and unusually for a UK university almost the entire academic, residential, sporting and social life sits inside that one site, which makes arrival easier for international students who do not want to negotiate a city on day one. Academically Stirling is not a broad giant; it is known for a handful of things it does exceptionally well. Its Institute of Aquaculture is one of the world's leading centres for fish farming and aquatic food systems, and draws students from across Asia. Sport is the other signature: Stirling is designated Scotland's University for Sporting Excellence, with a national swimming and tennis performance centre, a golf academy and a research base in sport psychology and physiology. Beyond that, it has real depth in marketing and retail studies, media and journalism, social work, dementia care and behavioural science, and it pioneered the semester system in Scotland, which means February as well as September entry for many masters. The town of Stirling is small, historic and safe, sitting almost exactly between Glasgow and Edinburgh — under an hour to either by train — so weekend access to two major cities and a large South Asian community is easy while rent stays far below both. For Indian postgraduates the practical points are these: Scottish taught masters are one year, the Graduate Route gives two years' post-study work, and Stirling advertises automatic scholarships worth several thousand pounds against international fees on most course pages. Published 2026/7 international fees run from £12,200 for online programmes to £24,300 for campus-based conversion and business masters, so the exact course matters a great deal to the final bill.

Entry requirements
Typically for broadly accessible UK universities, a three-year Indian bachelor's degree from a UGC-recognised institution at around a 2:2 equivalent — commonly 50-60% or CGPA 5.5-6.5/10, though each university applies its own conversion; IELTS Academic usually 6.0-6.5 overall with no band below 5.5-6.0, so prepare towards the higher end and check whether the UKVI version is required. A three-year degree is not the obstacle for UK master's entry that it is in the US, but degree class and subject background are what move the decision, and popular programmes at these universities still ask for a 2:1. This is general guidance for the destination and varies by programme, not this university's own rule — your Vibedu counsellor confirms the exact bar free.

Exchange rates as of 18 Aug 2026 (30 days ago) — European Central Bank reference rates (AED via open.er-api.com), mid-market. The INR figure is converted from £ at that rate. Your bank's remittance rate will be worse than mid-market, and currencies move a percent or two a month, so use these for planning rather than as the amount you will actually pay.
