The Doctoral Programme in Population Health and Human Behaviour is an interdisciplinary programme that integrates diverse scientific and methodological approaches to examine: • The causes, consequences, and distribution of health, well-being, disease, and disability in populations, and • The causes and consequences of adaptive and maladaptive human behaviour and behaviour change. This programme is open to all professionals in health and behavioural sciences—whether aspiring clinical scientists or basic and applied researchers—who are interested in addressing major issues related to health and human behaviour through research. The doctoral programme is coordinated by the Faculty of Medicine, and the doctoral researchers are primarily based at the Meilahti campus. However, many conduct their research at other University of Helsinki campuses or at various research institutes and hospital environments. The programme prepares future professionals for complex and rapidly changing environments and global crises. It offers high-quality doctoral education and produces competitive research specialists and experts for diverse careers both within and beyond academia. Upon completing their doctoral training, graduates are well-equipped to meet the evolving needs of the job market and are prepared for roles in research, healthcare, policy, industry, and organizations.
