If you are inspired by understanding how nature constructs substances from atoms and harnessing the power of chemistry to understand the world around us and to generate new solutions for cleaner energy and circular economy, new compounds and materials for sustainable products and biological and diagnostic applications as well as cutting-edge analytical techniques, this programme is for you! Chemistry is a fundamental field of natural science with applications in all areas of life and the economy. Chemists have a lot of duties in the healthcare sector, research and development, regulatory affairs and monitoring, environmental analysis, quality control, forensics research, commerce, and in education and academia. The search for novel, more sustainable solutions for the wellbeing of mankind and the planet will  require chemists’ knowledge and skills increasingly in the future. Further, the chemical industry is a major employer and one of the largest export industries in Finland.  After completing the Master’s Programme in Chemistry, you will:  Be profoundly familiar with experimental research methods in one or more fields of chemistry: analytical chemistry, synthesis and catalysis, radiochemistry, polymer chemistry and biobased materials, spectroscopy and computational chemistry.  Have in-depth knowledge of the theoretical basis of your field and be able to apply this knowledge to broader topics.  Know how to search for and manage chemical research data and use them to plan and perform demanding duties in chemical laboratories.  Be able to act as a chemistry expert in project planning and management, both independently and as a member of a team.  Be able to present your results accurately in accordance with the practices of the field, both orally and in writing, and prepare extensive papers and reports in English.  Further information about the studies is on the Master's programme website.
