Geology and Geophysics

Our programme trains you to address pressing questions about our planet, through understanding the evolution of life and climate, and the geosphere as the source of raw materials. Meeting today’s environmental challenges and supporting a growing global population demands a deep understanding of how geological and geophysical processes have interacted with the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere throughout Earth's history.  Themes of the programme include hydrogeology, environmental geology, palaeontology, palaeoclimatology and -ecology, mineralogy and petrology, economic geology, and solid earth geophysics, offering a unique opportunity to personalize and focus your own expertise profile within the broad field of geosciences. Thesis projects in the programme are mainly supervised by the researchers and staff of the Department of Geosciences and Geography including the UH Institute of Seismology.Further information about the studies on the programme website.
