About this programme
In the Master’s Programme in Geography, students advance their understanding of geography as a discipline and establish a solid geographer identity. The education enables students to understand the multidimensional challenges of our time and respond to them through geographical critical thinking and methodological expertise. Theoretical knowledge and methodology skills make them sought-after experts in the labour market. They know where to look for reliable research data and knowledge to understand our world and its phenomena. During their studies, students are involved in the activities of research groups and in public discussion. The Master’s Programme in Geography offers five model timetables with the themes of human geography, physical geography, applications of geoinformatics in social and environmental research, conservation geography and sustainability, and geography as a school subject. Different themes can also be broadly combined.Learning outcomesAfter completing the Master’s Programme in Geography, students will Understand the nature of geography as a complex discipline and be able to participate in topical discussions Identify relevant and reliable sources of information and be able to process scholarly knowledge Be able to formulate justified, relevant and topical research questions Be able to apply qualitative and quantitative methods as well as combinations of both methods to geographical research Be able to design and conduct justified and ethically sustainable geographical research Be able to present, interpret and assess the results of geographical research Be able to identify and understand the links between social and spatial phenomena Communicate clearly and effectively in both written and oral form Be able to participate in expert and public discussionsRead more about the studies on the degree programme website.
