Which USA Intake Should You Choose?
Fall (August–September) — the primary intake with the most programs, funding and on-campus jobs. If you miss it or need more time for IELTS, funds or documents, a secondary intake is a smart backup — you get more prep time with only a slightly smaller course choice. The most important rule for USA: start 8–12 months ahead, because admits, scholarships and visa slots all favour early applicants.
Scholarships: Fall opens the most merit scholarships, graduate assistantships (GA/TA/RA) and fee waivers — apply early to be considered.

Which is the best intake for the USA?
Fall (Aug–Sep) is the best and biggest intake — the most programs, scholarships, assistantships and the smoothest F-1 visa timeline. Choose Spring only if you miss Fall or need extra prep time.
When should I start my USA application?
Start 10–12 months before your intake. For Fall 2026 that means beginning your GRE/IELTS and shortlisting by mid-2025 and submitting applications between October 2025 and January 2026.
Can I get a scholarship in the Spring intake?
Yes, but fewer are available than in Fall. Many assistantships and department funding are allocated in the Fall cycle, so Fall gives you the best funding odds.
Is the Summer intake worth it?
Only for specific programs. Summer has very limited course options and little funding — most students should target Fall or Spring instead.
How does intake timing affect my F-1 visa?
Applying early gives you time for admits, I-20 issuance and a visa slot. Fall applicants who start early rarely face timing pressure; late applicants risk missing visa appointments.
