Missed the Fall intake? The Spring (January) intake is a strong second chance. Here’s where it’s available and how to plan for it.
What the Spring intake is
Spring (usually January) is the secondary intake in many countries — smaller than Fall but a genuine second chance if you need more time for tests, funds or documents.
Where it’s available
Many universities in the USA, Canada and the UK offer a January intake for popular courses. Australia and New Zealand run a July (Semester 2) intake as their equivalent second window. Check timing on our intakes pages.
How to plan for Spring
Apply roughly 6–9 months ahead. Fewer courses and scholarships are available than in Fall, so shortlist carefully and apply early to the programs that do open — see Fall vs Spring.
