Singapore student visa documents checklist
The documents a Singapore student visa application needs, taken from the official guidance. The list is the easy part; the three rules underneath it are what applications actually fail on.
At a glance
| Visa | Student's Pass (STP), applied for through ICA's SOLAR / Student's Pass Online Application & Registration e-Service. For visa-required nationals such as Indian passport holders, the entry visa is embedded in the In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter — as published at ica.gov.sg/reside/STP/apply |

The checklist
- Registration Acknowledgement Letter from your Singapore institution (carries the SOLAR reference / login you need to start the ICA application)
- Passport / travel document biodata page, valid well beyond your intended stay
- Birth certificate, where applicable
- Recent passport-sized digital colour photograph taken within the last 3 months, to ICA photo specifications
- Personal particulars declaration: residential history, education background and employment background
- Details of family members — parents, spouse and siblings as applicable
- Financial support details (ICA asks you to declare finances; no fixed amount is published)
- Singapore residential address, email address and contact number
- Academic certificates and transcripts supporting your admission, as requested by ICA or the institution
- Official English translations of any non-English document, certified by an embassy or notary public
- Medical Examination Report, if applicable — required before the Student's Pass can be issued (commonly TB chest X-ray and HIV test)
- Student's Pass Terms and Conditions form, downloaded and acknowledged before formalities
- Vaccination records for applicants aged 12 and under (Foreign System / Privately-Funded and PEI routes)
- Your IPA letter plus every document itemised on it, brought to the ICA formalities appointment
The three rules that decide a document
- Consistency. Your name, date of birth and parents' names must match across passport, certificates and bank papers. A single spelling difference needs an affidavit and weeks.
- Translation and certification. Anything not in the accepted language usually needs a certified translation, and "certified" has a specific meaning that varies by country.
- Currency. Bank statements, medicals and police clearances all expire. A document valid when you gathered it may not be when you submit.
Assembling the file
- Start with the documents you do not control — transcripts from an old university, police clearances, attestations.
- Scan everything at the required resolution before you need it.
- Keep originals together; several routes ask to see them at biometrics or interview.
- Make one list of what has an expiry and when, and check it the week you submit.
The most common avoidable refusal in every route is a document that was not asked for being missing — people read the list as exhaustive. It is a minimum; an officer may ask for anything that supports your case.
