About University of Wolverhampton
The University of Wolverhampton traces itself to the mechanics' institute and school of art movement of the 1820s — its own history dates the roots to 1827, with teaching beginning at the School of Art in 1851 and the Wolverhampton and Staffordshire Technical College emerging in 1933 — and it gained university status in 1992. It is a multi-campus institution in the West Midlands: the City Campus in Wolverhampton itself, Walsall for sport and education, Telford for engineering and business, and the Springfield Campus, a large redevelopment of a derelict brewery site that now houses the School of Architecture and Built Environment and the National Brownfield Institute. Its academic profile is practical and regionally rooted: nursing and midwifery, pharmacy and life sciences, civil engineering and construction, computing and cyber security, education, business and law, plus a newer Black Country Medical School. Research is concentrated in a few centres rather than spread broadly, and the university's defining mission is widening participation — it educates a high proportion of first-generation, local and mature students. For an Indian postgraduate the case is affordability and location. International postgraduate fees for 2026/2027 are £18,465 for non-laboratory courses and £19,859 for lab-based ones — two standard tiers rather than per-course pricing, and among the lower rates in England. Applicants holding a 2:1-equivalent undergraduate degree are eligible for an Academic Excellence Postgraduate Scholarship. Wolverhampton is about twenty minutes by train from Birmingham, giving access to the UK's second-largest graduate job market while living costs stay far below London's. Note that the university states tuition in later years of a course rises with inflation, which matters for two-year programmes.

Entry requirements
Typically for broadly accessible UK universities, a three-year Indian bachelor's degree from a UGC-recognised institution at around a 2:2 equivalent — commonly 50-60% or CGPA 5.5-6.5/10, though each university applies its own conversion; IELTS Academic usually 6.0-6.5 overall with no band below 5.5-6.0, so prepare towards the higher end and check whether the UKVI version is required. A three-year degree is not the obstacle for UK master's entry that it is in the US, but degree class and subject background are what move the decision, and popular programmes at these universities still ask for a 2:1. This is general guidance for the destination and varies by programme, not this university's own rule — your Vibedu counsellor confirms the exact bar free.

Exchange rates as of 18 Aug 2026 (30 days ago) — European Central Bank reference rates (AED via open.er-api.com), mid-market. The INR figure is converted from £ at that rate. Your bank's remittance rate will be worse than mid-market, and currencies move a percent or two a month, so use these for planning rather than as the amount you will actually pay.
