University of Brighton

The University of Brighton grew out of the Brighton School of Art, founded in 1859, and still carries that creative DNA: its art, design, illustration and fashion courses are among the best known outside London. It took university title in 1992 and today runs most teaching from Moulsecoomb, a short bus ride inland from the seafront, with further provision at Falmer. Beyond the studios there is real depth in pharmacy and biomolecular sciences, sport and exercise science, environment and sustainability, and health — it co-runs Brighton and Sussex Medical School with the University of Sussex, which gives its clinical and health master's unusual access to NHS teaching hospitals.
