Periodontology and Implant Therapy (MSc)

This international Master’s programme combines advanced academic training with an exceptional level of clinical practice. Weekly online sessions provide the flexibility to integrate your studies into your professional routine. The clinical training forms the core of the programme: around 75 hours of hands-on sessions across three intensive clinical blocks in Dresden (Germany) and Ferrara (Italy) give you the opportunity to apply advanced techniques directly under the guidance of internationally recognised specialists. From diagnostics and evidence-based treatment planning to periodontal therapy and implantology, the programme focuses on skills that can be transferred directly into everyday clinical practice. Health psychology and scientific research complement the curriculum, enabling you to approach complex cases from both a clinical and academic perspective. Programme structure The “Periodontology and Implant Therapy (M.Sc.)” degree programme has a modular structure. Over the course of four semesters, students build advanced knowledge in periodontology and implant therapy while systematically expanding their scientific, diagnostic, and clinical competencies. The curriculum combines foundational knowledge, evidence-based diagnostics, non-surgical and surgical therapy concepts, implantology, interdisciplinary treatment planning, and scientific work. In this way, the programme connects academic depth with direct relevance for clinical practice. Students learn to assess complex periodontal and implant-related cases, make evidence-based treatment decisions, and apply modern therapeutic concepts in a way that is structured and professionally responsible. At the same time, they strengthen their ability to critically evaluate research, develop academic projects, and transfer scientific findings into everyday professional practice. Study schedule First to third semester: Students complete the taught modules of the degree programme. These cover the foundations of periodontology and implant therapy, diagnostics and treatment planning, scientific work, pathology and therapy concepts, implant therapy, interdisciplinary treatment approaches, and project work. The programme combines weekly online sessions with guided self-study and clinical in-person phases. Three clinical weekends in Dresden and Ferrara (Italy) provide hands-on training, supervised clinical exchange, and direct interaction with experienced specialists from across Europe.
