Information and Communication Systems

This English-language Master's course of study covers a wide range of modules with a focus on future challenges in the fields of information and communication systems. All students have to pass particular general modules that are important for the understanding of the following deepening opportunities. Building on this, the study programme provides the opportunity to deepen subject-related knowledge in one of the following majors: Information Processing Technologies Communication Systems Each of these tracks includes a number of different specific compulsory subjects as well as additional elective ones. The basics for both are provided by the general compulsory modules, which are: Design of Digital Systems, Advanced Mobile and V2X Communication, Digital Signal Processing, Basics of Microwave and Photonic Systems 1 and Next Generation Internet. Depending on the availability, the study programme offers the opportunity to do a research project at the university or a research internship during the third semester (students select one of the two options). The study programme is completed by the Master's thesis in the final semester. The students have to pass all of the required compulsory subjects and additional elective subjects of 48 CP in total. Depending on this decision, they have to pass specific compulsory and elective subjects. Compulsory subjects in Information Processing Technologies: Design of Heterogeneous Systems (lecture/seminar/lab) Multisensorial Systems (lecture/lab) Computer Vision 1 (lecture/seminar) Compulsory subjects in Communication Systems: Basics of Microwave & Photonic Systems 2 (lecture/seminar/lab) Simulation & Performance Analysis of Communication Networks (lecture/lab) Advanced Mobile Networks (lecture/seminar) Students majoring in Information Processing Technologies have to pass at least two of the following elective subjects: Verification of Dig. Systems Test of Digital & Mixed-Signal Circuits Applied Circuit Design & Testing Digital Signal Processing 2 Computer Vision 2 Students majoring in Communication Systems have to pass at least two of the following elective subjects: Wireless Broadband Data Reception Optical Communication & Networks Aerospace Remote Sensing Antenna Engineering Network Planning Further elective subjects in technical field: Digital Components & Architectures for Data Processing Mobile Localisation and Navigation Image Processing and Pattern Recognition Video Signal Processing Programming & Data Analysis IP Networking and Software Defined Networking Lab Communication Networks Seminar Further elective subjects in non-technical field: Optimisation for Non-Mathematicians Resource Efficiency from an Economic Perspective Communication & Leadership Elective modules in research and internship: Students select one of these two options.
