The structure
- Einleitung — introduce the issue and say what you will argue.
- Hauptteil 1 — your position, with reasons and an example.
- Hauptteil 2 — the counter-argument, taken seriously, then answered.
- Schluss — restate the position in different words.
Taking the counter-argument seriously is what separates B2 from B1 writing. An argued text that acknowledges nothing reads as an opinion rather than an argument.
The connectors that build it
| Function | Connectors |
|---|---|
| Adding | außerdem, darüber hinaus, zudem |
| Contrasting | jedoch, allerdings, im Gegensatz dazu |
| Conceding | zwar … aber, einerseits … andererseits, zugegeben |
| Concluding | daher, folglich, aus diesem Grund |
| Summarising | zusammenfassend, alles in allem |
Each of these sends the verb to a different place. *Jedoch* and *außerdem* invert the subject and verb; *weil* and *obwohl* send the verb to the end. Using a connector whose word order you cannot control costs more than the connector gains.

Yes. Ignoring the chart or text you were given is a direct content failure.
Argue whichever side you can support better in the time. The position is not marked; its support is.
