Structure and register
- Formal greeting, with a comma. The next line starts in lower case.
- Purpose in the first sentence.
- One paragraph per Leitpunkt.
- A closing request or expectation — *ich freue mich auf Ihre Antwort*.
- Formal sign-off, no comma after it.
Konjunktiv II softens a request and reads as properly polite: *ich hätte gern*, *könnten Sie*, *wäre es möglich*. At B2 its absence is noticeable.
