New Zealand university intakes
New Zealand runs a February main intake and a July second one, on the southern-hemisphere calendar. As in Australia, July often fits an Indian graduation timetable better than a northern-hemisphere September.

Choosing between them
- February — the fuller intake, with more programmes and more entrance awards.
- July — substantial, and convenient for a mid-year Indian graduate.
- Doctoral entry is often flexible rather than tied to either.
Doctoral study is worth a separate look here: international PhD students are often charged domestic-level tuition, which outweighs most scholarships and changes the comparison with other destinations.
Timeline
- Apply four to six months ahead for admission.
- Accept and arrange funding evidence.
- Apply for the student visa with a processing buffer.
- Arrange accommodation, which is tight in Auckland and Wellington.
