About this programme

The MSc in High-performance Computing is a multidisciplinary programme offered jointly by the Faculty of Information Technology and the Faculty of Mathematics and Sciences. It combines information technology and computer systems knowledge of high-performance computing with application and development skills of computational models and methods of natural sciences, namely physics and chemistry. The programme provides a strong foundation for understanding and using emerging and demanding technologies such as quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and multi-core programming in different application areas. Students are able to direct their learning and development in technological environments that are complex and partly unpredictable.Graduates of the MSc High Performance Computingcan develop and apply parallel and distributed computing methods to interdisciplinary problemsmaster the basic concepts of quantum computing, machine learning methods, and multi-core programminghave the skills to follow the rapid development of technologies and can apply these technologies to solve demanding computational problemsunderstand both the applications of high-performance computing in technology development and technology transfer mechanisms in business interfacesare able to develop and implement demanding data mining and machine learning methods for different types of materialsGraduates of the physics or chemistry specialisation have a deepening competence profile in computational physics or chemistry and the use of high-performance computing in these areas.Graduates of the computer science specialisation understand the connections of high-performance computing in the study of basic phenomena in computational physics or chemistry.
