About this programme
The HHL Part-time Master’s in Management is designed for ambitious young professionals who want to accelerate their career without stepping out of work. The programme combines academic rigour, leadership development and practical relevance in a format that fits around a full-time job. You will study in English, choose your preferred location in Leipzig, Cologne or Munich, and become part of HHL’s highly connected international community. The HHL Part-time Master’s in Management programme combines a broad general management foundation with the flexibility to tailor your learning to your professional goals. From the outset, it is built to help you strengthen your analytical capabilities, expand your leadership toolkit, and gain the perspective needed to take on greater responsibility in dynamic business environments. Your journey begins with the Welcome Week in Leipzig, where you are introduced to the HHL community, your classmates, and the faculty who will accompany you throughout the programme. This opening phase sets the tone for the experience ahead by combining academic orientation with a strong sense of community and international exchange. The core curriculum is built around the Essentials, which provide a solid foundation in the key disciplines of modern management. You will develop capabilities in areas such as economics, negotiation, ethics and sustainability, problem solving and communication, as well as self-leadership and reflection. The Elective Essentials then give you the opportunity to broaden your profile in selected areas, including topics such as econometrics, entrepreneurship, value chain management, entrepreneurial finance, coding and data literacy, or international learning formats. This structure ensures that you build both breadth and relevance as you progress through the programme. As you move forward, the General Management Deep Dives allow you to focus your studies more deliberately on your own career direction. You choose two of four options: Strategic Management, Financial Decision Making, Transformation Management, or International Experience. These specialisations are designed to help you translate career ambition into focused capability building and to deepen your expertise in the areas most relevant to your next professional step. The programme concludes with the Master’s thesis, which gives you the opportunity to apply academic insight to a real managerial challenge, often with direct relevance to your own professional context. In this way, the programme does not just broaden your knowledge. It also helps you connect learning with application and turn academic progress into practical career value. The programme starts in September and runs over 24 to 30 months. Courses are delivered in a weekend format with seven to eight course weekends per year at your chosen study location in Leipzig, Cologne, or Munich, typically from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening. In addition, the programme includes four residential weeks in Leipzig. This set-up is designed to make a high-quality Master’s experience compatible with a demanding full-time role, while still creating enough intensity for meaningful learning, strong peer exchange, and sustained personal development.
