Welcome to Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK), where we invite you to "Come, Study, and Stay" in Kainuu region. We are launching a new English-taught Nursing degree that is arranged as a full-time programme on campus in Kajaani. As part of our commitment to helping you integrate into the Finnish healthcare system, Finnish language training will be an essential component of the program. Our goal is to educate expert nurses who can seamlessly transition into Finnish working environments, while also being well-equipped to work abroad and in multicultural settings.Nurses are professionals who implement and develop health-promoting, disease-preventing, and rehabilitative care in society. Throughout your studies, you will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to plan, evaluate, and develop nursing care. The curriculum includes core studies, professional studies, clinical training, and a bachelor’s thesis. Teaching methods will combine contact teaching with nursing simulation, XR-technology (extended reality), serious games, online learning, and independent study. Since nursing is a hands-on profession, practical learning through clinical skills labs (CSLs) and simulations will prepare you for real-life situations.The Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is structured according to the Directive of the European Parliament. To graduate, students must complete 210 credits, covering essential areas such as professionalism and ethics, client orientation, communication, multidisciplinary collaboration, health promotion, leadership, information technology, documentation, guidance, teaching, clinical nursing, evidence-based practice, and patient safety. Additionally, the program emphasizes evidence-based research, decision-making, entrepreneurship, and quality assurance in social and healthcare systems.Upon graduation, students will become Registered Nurses, with the possibility of working in both primary care and specialized care facilities. Furthermore, registered nurses have the opportunity to advance their careers to the master’s level or specialize in a particular field. Finally, the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health in Finland (Valvira) will grant a license to practice nursing in Finland and other EU countries. You will be prepared to work independently and develop a rewarding and impactful career.
