Why this job is worth doing in Chennai

Chennai is the largest city we operate in, and the branch handles a correspondingly wide mix — students from the city itself and from across the northern districts who travel in. If you want range in the profiles you counsel, this is where you get it.

The role

What you'd be doing day to day

Full role description →

This is the role at the centre of what Vibedu does. You are the person a student and their parents sit across from when they are deciding where the next five years of their life will happen. You help them weigh countries, shortlist universities, understand what a course actually leads to, and build an application that stands up.

Your responsibilities

  • Meet students and parents — in the office, on call and on video — and understand what they actually want before recommending anything.
  • Assess a student's profile honestly: marks, backlogs, budget, English score and what those together make realistic.
  • Shortlist universities and courses that fit, using our course finder and your own judgement.
  • Explain fees, scholarships, intakes and entry requirements clearly, including when a plan is not realistic.
  • Guide students through applications, documents, SOP and LOR preparation, and keep them on track to deadlines.

See the full list on the role page →

What Chennai needs

  • Tamil and English — this branch works in both, and students and parents here expect to ask their questions in their own language.
  • Any graduate degree. Experience in overseas education, admissions or counselling is preferred, not required.
  • Patience with parents' questions, and the honesty to say when an option is not right for a student.
  • Comfortable with a computer — email, spreadsheets and a CRM.
Experienced or fresher — both can apply

If you are a fresher who genuinely wants to help students and is willing to learn the detail, apply. We train. What we cannot train is whether you care what happens to the student after they pay.

Training and onboarding

You start with the countries and courses we send the most students to, sitting in on counselling sessions before you run your own. Our course finder, scholarship database and visa guides are the same tools the student sees, so you learn them from the student's side first. A senior counsellor reviews your early shortlists with you.

Where it leads

Counsellors here move into senior counselling — the harder profiles, the students other counsellors escalate — and from there into branch responsibility. What that takes depends on you and on the branch, and we would rather discuss it honestly at interview than publish a timeline we cannot promise.

FAQ

Questions candidates in Chennai ask us

What qualifications do I need to work as an Education Counsellor at Vibedu?

Any graduate degree, clear spoken and written English, and the local language of the branch you are applying to. A background in overseas education, admissions or counselling is preferred but is not a requirement — we recruit freshers into this role as well.

Can freshers apply for jobs at Vibedu?

Yes, for three of our five open roles: Education Counsellor, Business Development Executive and Front Office Executive. Finance Executive asks for 2–3 years and the IELTS / Language Trainer role asks for 2–5 years, so those two are not open to freshers.

What does an Education Counsellor actually do?

You meet students and their parents, understand what they want, shortlist universities and courses that fit their marks and budget, explain fees, scholarships, intakes and entry requirements honestly, and guide the application through to the point the student flies. Everything is recorded in our CRM so nothing is lost between conversations.

What skills matter most for a study-abroad counsellor?

Being able to explain a complicated thing simply, patience with parents' questions, and the honesty to tell a student when a plan is not realistic. The country knowledge can be taught; those three are harder to train.

Does Vibedu hire for more than one branch?

Yes. We are currently recruiting across all five offices — Coimbatore, Chennai, Madurai, Trichy and Kochi — though not every role is open in every city. Each role page lists the cities it is open in.

Which locations does Vibedu recruit in?

Coimbatore (our head office), Chennai, Madurai and Trichy in Tamil Nadu, and Kochi in Kerala.

How do I apply for a job at Vibedu?

Send your CV by WhatsApp or email, or call our HR team — all three reach the same people. Tell us the role and the city you are applying for. WhatsApp is usually the fastest way to get a reply.

What is the recruitment process at Vibedu?

Six stages: apply, screening, interview, assessment, offer and onboarding. You apply by sending us your CV. Screening is us reading it — we read every CV that reaches us. The interview is a first conversation with HR, then a meeting with the branch team, at the office you are applying to or on video if that is easier. Assessment applies to some roles only: a short practical exercise relevant to the job, and we tell you what to expect beforehand. Then the offer, and onboarding — training on our systems and on the countries and courses you will be working with.

Are there finance and accounts jobs at Vibedu?

Yes — we are hiring a Finance Executive for Kochi, Chennai and Coimbatore. It asks for 2–3 years of hands-on accounting experience and working knowledge of Tally, GST and TDS.

Does Vibedu hire Business Development Executives?

Yes, across all five offices. It is a travelling role — you build relationships with colleges, schools and coaching institutes and run study-abroad sessions on campus. We take experienced candidates and freshers who are willing to be on the road.

Does Vibedu hire Front Office Executives?

Yes, for Madurai, Kochi and Chennai. Freshers can apply; we train you on our systems.

Can I apply if I have no study-abroad industry experience?

For Education Counsellor, Business Development Executive and Front Office Executive, yes. We would rather train someone who genuinely wants to help students than hire someone who already knows the jargon but not the point of it.

What does Vibedu offer besides salary?

Insurance that covers your family, Provident Fund, incentives alongside your fixed salary, and special allowances from your third year with us.
