We list 4 Data Science master's in Ireland at four universities, and hold a verified tuition figure for 3 of them. All four are taught master's and all four run 12 months, which makes this the cleanest like-for-like comparison in our Irish catalogue.
Four programmes, two prices
There is no gradient here. The four split into two pairs, and the gap between them is almost exactly double.
- Atlantic Technological University — MSc in Data Science, €14,000
- Munster Technological University — MSc in Data Science and Analytics, €15,000
- Trinity College Dublin — MSc in Computer Science – Data Science, €27,790
- University College Cork — MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, €28,000 (not yet verified)
Same level, same country, same twelve months, and one pair costs roughly what two years of the other would. The split follows the same line as Irish computer science: technological universities at one end, traditional names at the other.
What the extra €13,000 buys is not a longer or higher qualification. It is research intensity, the recruiting networks attached to Trinity and UCC, and Dublin or Cork rather than Galway or Munster — and the last of those three cuts both ways, because the cities at the expensive end are also the expensive cities to live in. On a self-funded budget the total gap between an ATU year and a Trinity year is wider than the tuition line alone.
Twelve months, which is the real comparison
All four are one-year degrees. Against Canada, where a master's is usually 24 months, a €14,000 Irish programme is one year of tuition and one year of living costs — a total that is difficult to beat for an English-taught data science master's in Western Europe.
The trade-off is the one every one-year master's carries: no room for a co-op, a compressed dissertation, and a job search that has to start before the degree is finished rather than after.
Entry requirements
Our listings record no academic cut-off for these four, so we will not quote one. Data science admissions in Ireland, as elsewhere, turn on whether your bachelor's carried real mathematics and whether you can show code. A conversion route exists in Irish computing more readily than in most countries, but a specialist data science MSc is not usually it.
Staying on after: Stamp 1G
A Level 9 (master's) graduate gets up to 24 months under Ireland's Third Level Graduate Programme. The Immigration Service's programme page describes it as 12 months renewable for a further 12 where you can show you are actively seeking graduate-level work; other official material frames the same permission as 24 months. The ceiling is two years either way, and the second year is not automatic.
Apply within 6 months of being notified of your award, while you still hold a current Stamp 2. The fee is €300. On Stamp 1G you can work full time but cannot be self-employed or run a business — worth knowing early if contracting was part of the plan, because data science is a field where it often is.

Catalogue figures counted from our published listings on 20 October 2026: 3 of 4 programmes carry a tuition figure verified against the university's own page, in euro; the UCC figure is sourced but not re-checked and is labelled as such.
