About this programme
UT Arlington describes the MS in Electrical Engineering as designed for students seeking to increase knowledge in areas of electrical engineering related to engineering practice. Graduate study is offered in ten specialisations: digital and microprocessor/controller systems; solid-state devices, circuits and systems; systems and controls; electromagnetic fields and applications; digital signal and image processing; telecommunications and information systems; power systems; optical devices and systems; nanotechnology and MEMS; and renewable energy systems and vehicular technology. Students plan a specialisation with an advisor and may draw on courses across multiple engineering fields. What the fee covers: the graduate non-resident (international) rate — tuition and mandatory fees combined — for a nine-month academic year, taken from UTA's official cost-of-attendance budget. Fee year: 2026-27. Before you budget: the programme page does not state total credit hours, thesis or non-thesis structure, or admission minimums — it links to the University Catalog. The tuition shown is UTA's university-wide graduate non-resident planning average (tuition plus mandatory fees); engineering differential tuition means the actual bill will differ, so use UTA's Tuition Estimator at https://webapp.uta.edu/tuition-estimator/. Living costs and insurance are extra. Before you rely on the deadlines: the dates shown are printed on this degree's own uta.edu page, but they sit inside UTA's standard deadline block, which says 'Most Master's applications have the following deadlines. Check the department website for any deadlines that may be specific to the degree you want to pursue.' They are university-standard dates reproduced on a degree page rather than dates the department itself sets, so confirm them with the department before you plan around them. The entry requirements come from the degree's catalog entry at https://catalog.uta.edu/engineering/electrical/graduate/electrical-engr-ms/, which says only that an international student 'must meet the minimum university English language requirements' and prints no score. The English scores shown are therefore UTA's university-wide international graduate minimum (https://www.uta.edu/admissions/apply/international-graduate), not a degree-specific bar.

Unconditional admission: GRE is not required. In addition to the minimum requirements for graduate admission, the typical admitted MS applicant documents a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale) in upper-division coursework (junior and senior level or equivalent), holds a rigorous undergraduate degree relevant to the EE curriculum from a reputable institution, and gives satisfactory answers to the EE Department supplementary questions. An applicant whose undergraduate courses do not cover the breadth required may be placed on probationary status until equivalent coursework is completed.
