About this programme

The Master's programme in Chemistry comprises three core modules, which can be freely combined from all offered sub-disciplines of chemistry: Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Bioanalysis, Theoretical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Sustainable Chemistry.  Information: https://www.uni-regensburg.de/en/chemie-pharmazie/studieren/im-studium/studiengaenge/msc-chemistry In addition to free module selection, we offer students the opportunity to choose specialisation studies. 1) MSc Chemistry with a focus on Bioanalysis:  Bioanalysis – an interdisciplinary field providing the methodologies to study fundamental questions of life and to cope with life’s challenges in health diagnostics, pharmacy and medical technology. From probing single cells or molecules to providing point-of-care diagnostics to screening for new pharmaceutical drugs: developing novel bioanalytical tools is the basis of it all. The Master of Chemistry with a focus on Bioanalysis aims at training a next generation of bioanalytical chemists who will have a broad foundation in chemical knowledge and an in-depth understanding of this interdisciplinary field. Information: https://www.uni-regensburg.de/en/chemie-pharmazie/studieren/im-studium/studiengaenge/msc-chemistry-with-focus-on-bionalysis 2) MSc Chemistry with a focus on Sustainable Chemistry: Sustainable chemistry is crucial for addressing the growing challenges of environmental protection, resource scarcity, and human health. The conventional chemical industry has historically contributed to pollution, energy consumption, and waste production. To counteract these negative impacts, sustainable chemistry focuses on developing environmentally friendly processes and materials that are ecologically sound, resource-efficient, and safe for human health, as well as promoting the recycling of chemical products. By transitioning to sustainable chemical practices, we can not only reduce our environmental impact but also ensure the long-term availability of raw materials and foster innovative solutions to global challenges such as climate change and pollution. Information: https://www.uni-regensburg.de/en/chemie-pharmazie/studieren/im-studium/studiengaenge/m-sc-chemistry-with-focus-on-sustainable-chemistry First year of study: lectures, seminars, (research) lab courses Main subject: core module — advanced module 1 — advanced module 2 First minor subject: core module — advanced module 1 Second minor subject: core module Second year of study: examinations, thesis Three oral examinations each covering one core module  Master's thesis (nine months)
