The Master’s programme in European and International Law at the Europa-Institut is internationally renowned and offers high-quality teaching and excellent preparation for the European and international job market. In addition to the compulsory basic module “European Integration”, you can choose from three specialisation modules and combine up to two of them according to individual interests and career goals. Key facts about the Master's programme in European and International Law: One-year Master's programme in European and International Law Course programme is entirely in English, some courses may be taken in German We offer one compulsory (basic) module, Module 1 — European Integration, as well as three modules in which you can specialise: Module 2 — European Economic Law Module 3 — International Economic Law: Foreign Trade — Investment Protection — International Dispute Resolution Module 4 — European and International Human Rights Protection The programme concludes with the writing of the Master’s thesis. In addition to professors teaching at Saarland University, the Europa-Institut hosts guest professors from a range of countries. Soft skills trainings The Europa-Institut offers students the opportunity to take part in moots, EuroSim, communication skills trainings, advocacy practice, negotiation training, and EPSO training. It thereby provides you with the opportunity to improve important soft skills for your future career. Structure of the LLM The one-year Master's programme is divided into two parts: a nine-month study programme over two semesters followed by a three-month period for the drafting of the Master's thesis. A minimum of 45 credit points must be attained during the course of the study programme, and 15 additional credit points are awarded after the completion and approval of the Master's thesis.
