Graduates of the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Applied Gerontology (Geronomi, UAS) are equipped to promote a good, participatory life and meaningful everyday experiences for older adults.The foundation of the degree lies in a holistic understanding of the human being and a view of ageing as a unique and valuable stage of life. The education is built on the belief that older people are resourceful and active agents in their own lives and communities. Ethical perspectives and principles of elderly care guide the programme content and approach.The programme supports multidisciplinary expertise and collaborative development within networks of ageing and elderly services. The curriculum is designed to meet the future competence needs in the field of elderly care. Throughout the studies, students strengthen their knowledge in areas such as memory work, digital competence, and gerontological care coordination.Graduates are capable of assessing the individual needs of older people and their families in diverse life situations and of supporting their autonomy, agency, and participation. Graduated bachelor`s work in various elderly care service environments while recognising the specific characteristics of different client groups. They promote the health, well-being, and functional ability of older adults.Bachelor`s in Applied Gerontology also identify future development needs in elderly services and act as developers in multidisciplinary cooperation. They advance their professional field and contribute to societal dialogue and development concerning ageing and elderly care. In addition, graduates are qualified to work in leadership roles within the elderly care sector.
