The programme is suitable for the fresh candidates who are planning to work in the Cybersecurity domain and career changers or for the people who are already working in the IT-domain and who want to deepen their competence in cybersecurity. Additionally, the structure of the programme has a mechanism for recognition of existing cybersecurity competence which enables academic accreditation and getting bachelor level degree in the IT domain.Our graduates typically work as security consultants, technical support specialists or security managers in the private or public sector. Upon graduation you will have a holistic view on cybersecurity including cyber threats, cyber defense and information security management associated with the soft skills needed in the modern working environment.Practical and up-to-date contentThe programme content is connected to the cybersecurity frameworks provided by the most prominent companies and associations. All teachers have a professional background in the business and IT industries. Laurea continuously co-operates with industry partners to bring in the latest competencies and technologies into our courses.Independent and self-paced studiesIn online studies, the entire program can be completed online. Online learning requires self-direction, group and networking skills, and the ability to schedule studies to fit one's life. Some of the teaching is scheduled, involving lectures and interactive teaching online. Some of the studies can be completed independently according to your own schedule during the study unit. Online learning is full-time, so sufficient time must be allocated for studies. The studies also include internships, which, if possible, take place in the student's hometown or nearby areas. The internships are full-time and requires attendance.This degree programme consists mainly of distance learning online and and does not require you to stay in Finland. Therefore You cannot be granted a residence permit for this degree programme. More information available on the Migri website (Finnish immigration services).Employment and work placementsThe studies include practical training (approximately five months), which can be taken in one or two parts. The work placements are an important step towards employment, helping you further enhance your competence in an area of interest. A work placement can be taken in Finland or abroad. Laurea has networked well with the cybersecurity domain, and the students are informed timely when new working opportunities are available. In addition, Laurea offers Finnish language courses for the non-Finnish speakers and well-organized career support services for the students who would like to settle in Finland for longer time or permanently. If you are planning to build your future career in Finland, you have an opportunity to study Finnish language and utilize personal tutoring for career planning.A mandatory 2-day online kick-offTo be able to start your studies you need to participate in a mandatory A 2-day online kick-off. During the online orientation you'll plan your studies, get to know lecturers and other students. The online orientation is part of the Building Competence Identity -study unit. During this period, we will review your high-school certificates, check your identification, grant you access to Laurea’s online platforms, and launch your studies to ensure a smooth start with your study process.Guidance and support during the studies- A tutor teacher will be available to guide you throughout all your study-time with us. The tutor teacher will guide you in:Smooth kick-off for your studies so you can get up-to-speed right awayMake a personal study-plan that fits your study and career objectivesInteraction with other staff members closely linked to guidance: Head of Student Affairs, (matters related to credit transfer, competence demonstrations, study progress, study entitlement) and the Student Affairs’ Office personnel (study documentation and certificates)- The study unit responsible teachers support your learning process in individual study units- The thesis supervisors support your thesis processEquipment needed to conduct the studiesYou will need to use your own personal computer with a good quality internet connection to access online learning materials and training environments. Your computer should be equipped with a camera and headset allowing you to engage in on-line meetings. We will provide more specific information regarding software and other requirements on Laurea’s web site. In practice, both Windows and macOS platforms work well.Please note that Laurea does not provide equipment (e.g. personal computer) for students.
