About this programme

The Master of Science in Physics programme has a duration of four semesters, comprises 120 credit points, and offers a specialisation into a modern research topic. In the first two semesters, an advanced lab course, advanced theoretical physics or computational physics will be taught. Furthermore, the student selects a special subject. In addition to lectures, the special subject includes a lab course in a working group and a seminar. Additionally, a non-physics course in mathematics, chemistry or business administration is to be chosen.  The Master's thesis will be written in a working group involved in one of the three main research areas of the Institute of Physics. The thesis will take two semesters including planning, preparation, and execution. After finishing, the Master's thesis will be presented in a colloquium.  The Master's thesis can be prepared in any of the working groups of the Institute of Physics at the University Greifswald as well as at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, Greifswald branch, or at the Leibniz Institute for Plasma Science and Technology. Three special subject/research areas are available: Plasma and Cosmos Soft Matter, Bio- and Environmental Physics Quantum and Nano Science
