About this programme

The course combines theoretical foundations with practical application to complex data problems. Students study machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, generative AI and reinforcement learning alongside big data management, data protection and data ethics. Entry requires an honours degree 2:2 or above in a relevant discipline such as computer science, mathematics, statistics or engineering. A professional placement route extends the course to up to two years. What the fee covers: the international full-time rate, per year. Fee year: 2026-27. English requirement as published: IELTS 6.5 overall with at least 5.5 in each component. Before you budget: the course page's fee table prints UK/Ireland/Channel Islands/Isle of Man £11,700, EU £11,700 with the EU Support Bursary or £19,500 without, and International £19,500. As an Indian student you pay the £19,500 international rate. A £1,900 professional placement fee applies on top if you secure a placement (the UK rate for the same placement is £1,575). Coventry runs six start points a year, so which intake you are offered matters for visa timing and living-cost planning. Unlike Coventry's MSc Data Science, this course requires a relevant quantitative or computing degree — it is not a conversion route.
