Check if you're eligible

We haven't confirmed this year's application window, and these dates move every cycle — so we won't print one. The official page is the only reliable source. Ask us and we'll track it for you and tell you when it opens.

Eligibility

Open to foreign nationals holding at least a secondary school leaving certificate, with an excellent academic record and good character. The exclusions matter more than the criteria here, and there are several: you are ineligible if you already hold student status at a Taiwanese institution, if you have already taken a degree in Taiwan at the level you are now applying for, if you are coming as an exchange or dual-degree student under an inter-university agreement, if you have already held a Taiwan Scholarship for a total of five years, or if you hold any other scholarship or subsidy from a Taiwanese government body or institution.

How to apply

Two applications, and missing the second is the common failure: the scholarship goes to a Republic of China overseas mission — the Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre for Indian applicants — while admission has to be applied for separately and directly to each university or college. Neither substitutes for the other, and both have their own deadlines.
