India is one of the 34 eligible countries. Beyond citizenship you must be applying to a master's programme that is itself on the SI eligible list, be liable to pay tuition fees at University Admissions, and show both work experience and leadership experience — the latter from a current or previous employer or from civil society engagement, and it is assessed rather than taken on trust. Selection weighs academic record, professional and leadership experience, and your potential to contribute to sustainable development. You do not have to be living in India when you apply.
Two applications: the master's itself through University Admissions, and the scholarship separately to the Swedish Institute. Only programmes on the SI eligible list can be funded, so confirm yours is on it before you commit to a choice — a strong application to an ineligible programme cannot be rescued later, and the list is narrower than the full Swedish catalogue.
