We haven't confirmed this year's application window, and these dates move every cycle — so we won't print one. The official page is the only reliable source. Ask us and we'll track it for you and tell you when it opens.
Eligibility
The Italian government sets its age limit by programme type and applies it as a date of birth. For the 2026/27 call, Master's and AFAM applicants had to be born on or after 27 March 1997, PhD applicants on or after 27 March 1995, and research-project applicants on or after 27 March 1985 — effectively 28, 30 and 40. Eligibility also depends on your country appearing on the list of eligible countries and territories published with each call, and that list changes, so it is the first thing to check rather than the last.
One online application against a call published annually at studyinitaly.esteri.it, with a hard cut-off — the 2026/27 call closed at 2pm Italian time on 26 March 2026. Note what that timing means: the window sits in the first quarter of the year, months before the academic year it funds, so an applicant who starts looking over the summer has already missed it and is working towards the following cycle.
