Eligibility
A non-degree programme for mid-career professionals, which rules out most students outright. You need at least five years of full-time professional experience, and part-time experience does not count towards it. You must hold a four-year bachelor's degree or a completed master's — or a full-time postgraduate diploma where your bachelor's ran shorter than four years — and hold management or policy responsibilities, a category that includes university teachers and teachers of English as a foreign language. A record of public service and demonstrated leadership are assessed, English proficiency is tested by TOEFL iBT, and you must undertake to return to India at the end.
Indian applications go through USIEF. The fellowship runs ten months at a leading US university around a self-defined plan of independent study rather than a set curriculum, so the proposal is effectively the application. Because it is non-degree you return with a network and no qualification, which is the point rather than a shortcoming — and you will need to be eligible for ten months of leave from your employer, worth confirming before you begin.
