Eligibility
Non-local applicants holding an international qualification, or a national examination qualification other than the Mainland Chinese GaoKao, are considered. Selection is on academic merit with non-academic achievement taken into account, and HKU publishes no GPA threshold for the entrance scholarships. One restriction to check rather than assume: the separate Belt and Road Scholarship is open only to nationals of participating countries, and the examples HKU names are Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Myanmar — confirm the current list before planning around it.
There is nothing separate to submit. Once your admission application is in, you are considered for an entrance scholarship automatically, and the scholarship result is announced at the same time as the admission decision. Individual faculties and schools run their own entrance scholarships on top of the university scheme, awarded on public examination results.
