Amount
Airfare, Korean language training fees, tuition and a monthly allowance — the four categories are named officially, the amounts are not published on this page
We haven't confirmed this year's application window, and these dates move every cycle — so we won't print one. The official page is the only reliable source. Ask us and we'll track it for you and tell you when it opens.
Eligibility
The applicant and BOTH parents must hold non-Korean citizenship. Applicants must be under 25 years of age as of the applicable year. You must have graduated, or expect to graduate, from high school (or hold an associate degree for the bachelor's route). Academically you must meet one of: a cumulative score of 80% or higher, a ranking within the top 20% of your class, or the required CGPA threshold. The official page publishes no list of eligible countries, so check the current GKS notice for the quota allocated to India before you plan around it.

Two routes. The EMBASSY TRACK is applied for through the Korean embassy or consulate in your country of residence, online via Study in Korea, and carries 156 undergraduate places (General 88, Overseas Koreans 7, R-GKS 61). You may name up to three universities and at least one must be a Type B university — 28 institutions are Type A (Seoul National, Yonsei, Korea University, Sungkyunkwan, Hanyang, Kyung Hee, POSTECH, UNIST, Ewha, Chung-Ang, Inha and others) and 42 are Type B. The UNIVERSITY TRACK is applied for directly to a GKS university and carries 130 places (UIC 100, Associate Degree 30); UIC is science and engineering only, with an industry-linked curriculum. Total undergraduate quota is 286 across more than 80 GKS universities. The scheme funds one year of Korean language training before a bachelor's degree of four to six years. The published timetable runs: announcement by NIIED in September, embassy applications in September and university applications September to November, screening October to December, and final results in December. Those are the months the government publishes — it does not publish exact dates on this page, so confirm them in the current GKS notice. We help you line the GKS application up against your university admission — free.
