UK raises Student visa maintenance funds from 11 November 2025

11 Nov 2025

For Student visa applications made on or after 11 November 2025, required living-cost funds rose to GBP 1,529/month in London and GBP 1,171/month outside London, for up to 9 months.

What changed

The UK increased the maintenance (proof-of-funds) requirement for the Student route. For applications made on or after 11 November 2025, applicants must show GBP 1,529 per month for study in London and GBP 1,171 per month for study outside London, for a maximum of 9 months. The accommodation offset cap also rose to GBP 1,529.

What it means for students

This is the first increase to Student route maintenance levels in several years and raises the total funds a student must evidence in their bank account alongside tuition. Indian applicants preparing bank statements or education loans should budget for the higher figures to avoid refusal, as the funds must be held for the required 28-day period before applying.
