Beginner

Everyday phrases, introductions — the entry point for many language requirements.

Elementary

Routine tasks and simple exchanges; common for foundation/pathway entry.

Intermediate

Independent use — a frequent minimum for undergraduate and visa purposes.

Upper-intermediate

Fluent, complex language — widely required for German-taught degrees.

Progress maps toward Goethe-Institut / TestDaF equivalency — the exact level you need is confirmed for your target university, free.

Online or near me?

The course is online. The exam is not.

This German language course is online and free, so there is no city it is "near" — you can work through A1 to B2 from anywhere in India, at whatever pace the rest of your application allows.

Location starts to matter at one point only, and it is worth planning for early: the certificate. Goethe-Institut and TestDaF exams are sat in person at approved centres, they run on fixed dates, and seats in Indian cities are booked well ahead. A German university or a visa officer wants that certificate, not a record of lessons completed — here or anywhere else.

So use this to get to the level, then book the sitting. We confirm which certificate and which level your specific universities accept, free — the requirement differs between a German-taught degree and an English-taught one, and between a university place and the visa.
