Biochemistry, Molecular Medicine

Admission is available for double degree students according to the agreement between Medical Faculty of Ulm University, Germany and University of Oulu, Faculty of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, Finland. To be eligible to apply, the applicant must have preliminary acceptance offer for the double degree programme from Medical Faculty of Ulm University.Teaching in the Faculty of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine of the University of Oulu is based on the research work done in the faculty. Course teachers are also active in research and all researchers of the faculty teach on our courses.M.Sc. studies are designed such that students have maximal possibilities to do practical research work in laboratories using state-of-the-art research facilities and equipment. Upon completing the M.Sc. degree students have 4 - 9 months experience in practical research laboratory work. Many students complete parts of the practical work, for example training or thesis work, outside Oulu in other internationally recognized research groups or biochemical laboratories or biotech companies.The programme offers flexibility for students to specialize in the aspects which they believe will most benefit their future career, including courses from the outside of the faculty, while at the same time having timetables which allow completion of the degree within two years.Each student will be individually guided by a University teacher and will develop a personal study plan that addresses his individual needs and interests.Consistent with our goal to provide the highest-level of education and research through the systematic recruitment of experts from Finland and abroad all of the teaching on our M.Sc. study programmes is in English.
