Nursing

As a nursing student your studies are practically oriented. Learning happens in a classroom, simulations, digital environments, and in clinical practice. Practices in clinical settings, for example at health centres, hospitals, and nursing homes, are a major part of your studies. In the simulations you will learn nursing skills in a safe environment with your fellow students.You will also learn Finnish language right from the beginning as the programme follows a bilingual nursing education model. Bilingual education supports students to graduate with proficiency in both languages used in their studies, allowing them to work in either language. Students are not required to have any previous knowledge of Finnish.During the studies you will study comprehensive theory and clinical skills related to nursing and health care. The first-year studies will give you skills and knowledge in basics of nursing, social and health care environments, wellbeing and health promotion as well as general academic skills. During the second and third year, you begin to study different nursing environments and specialties. During the last half year of your studies, you will deepen your professional competence. In addition, the studies at this stage contain leadership, management, and entrepreneurship. Bachelor’s thesis develops your skills in research, development, and innovation work as part of the degree programme.
