About this programme

Jamk's Business Information Technology (BIT) is one of the few bachelor’s level programmes among Universities of Applied Sciences dedicated solely to video game development and production.Learning by doing - that's the main principle of our programme. In addition to face-to-face lectures, the learning goals are achieved by doing exercises and course-wide assignments, such as developing a small size proof of concept game, or assets like art, sound effects or music for a game. The assessments are mostly done by the teacher in charge, by recognizing the skills and knowledge in a face-to-face meeting. Another fundamental method of our programme is project-based learning. Students will create teams to solve given problems and create solutions. The students will be working in teams and developing their own products - from technical, artistic, and business aspects. During studies, several different game development projects are participated. The objective of the Business Information Technology, Game Production bachelor’s degree programme is to develop students’ skills in game development and production. The focus of the studies follow closely the needs of the companies in the game industry. The ever-changing requirements of the corporate world are well integrated into the programme. The skills learned can also be applied in more conventional ICT positions, as well as positions in other fields utilising digitalisation, such as cross-reality, gamification, and visual design.
