About this programme
The HEC Paris/Freie Universität Berlin double degree programme in "Public Policy & Management" offers an intercultural and interdisciplinary approach at the heart of the relationship between business and public administration management. It has both a research and a professional dimension. The curriculum is comprised of the following elements: Year one at HEC Paris: core courses in management Year two at Freie Universität Berlin: courses in political science and administration A joint Franco-German seminar on intercultural management during the year at HEC Internship: The two-year programme may be extended by a gap year either between the first and the second year or after the second year. This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain company work experience and added exposure to professional conditions. Master's thesis: students are required to write a research-orientated Master's thesis at the end of their studies at Freie Universität Berlin. French, German and English language courses at both institutes Year one at HEC Paris consists of mandatory courses such as Financial Accounting & Management Control, Cost Accounting, Financial Economics, Statistics, Financial Markets, Company Law, Law and Taxation, Supply Chain Management, Corporate Finance, Marketing, Behavioural Management, Performance and Measure Management and language courses. HEC also offers its students a large number of elective courses in the fields of finance, economics, law, human resource management, strategy, marketing, general management, entrepreneurship, management of innovation and science and public administration. Courses at HEC are taught both in French and in English. In year two at Freie Universität Berlin, students have to chose two courses in each of the four following modules: Legal and economic foundations of politics (one class covering the legal and one covering the economic foundations of political systems, political programmes and political processes) Political systems (classes treat the comparative analysis of political institutions, processes and policies) International relations (classes treat the analysis of foreign policy, international politics and transnational politics) Organisation and administration (one class covering research in marketing and management under various aspects such as strategic alliances and networks, one class covering the relevant theories and concepts of administration in theory and practice) Additionally, students have to attend language courses and write their Master's theses.
