Reading

PTE Scoring System & How It Is Calculated
PTE uses the Global Scale of English (GSE) from 10 to 90. You receive an overall score plus communicative skills (listening, reading, speaking, writing) and enabling skills.

| 85 – 90 | Expert | Equivalent to IELTS 8.5–9.0 — top-tier proficiency. |
| 76 – 84 | Very Good | Equivalent to roughly IELTS 7.5–8.0. |
| 65 – 75 | Good | Equivalent to about IELTS 6.5–7.0 — meets most requirements. |
| 58 – 64 | Competent | Equivalent to around IELTS 6.0 — the common minimum. |
| 50 – 57 | Moderate | Equivalent to roughly IELTS 5.5 — accepted by some programs. |
PTE scoring is automated. Your overall score (10–90) is calculated from your performance across all tasks, many of which test more than one skill at once (integrated scoring). Most universities ask for an overall 58–65, with competitive courses wanting 65+. There is no manual marking, so scoring is fast and consistent.
PTE Exam Dates, Registration & Fees
The PTE is held throughout the year, so you can choose a date that fits your application timeline. Registration is done online through the official test provider, and seats fill quickly in peak intake months — so book early. The PTE fee in India is approximately ₹17,000 (approx.).
