Practical, section-by-section IELTS preparation tips to help Indian students hit the band they need — plus a free mock test.
Know the test and your target
IELTS has four sections — Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. First fix your target band per section (see band requirements by country), then focus practice on your weakest area.
Listening and Reading
Practice with real timed tests, learn to skim and scan for Reading, and train your ear with varied accents for Listening. Accuracy under time pressure is the goal — do full practice sets, not just questions.
Writing
Learn the task types, plan before you write, and hit the word count. Task 2 rewards clear structure, relevant examples and a range of vocabulary and grammar — get feedback on real essays.
Speaking
Practice speaking aloud daily, record yourself, and answer with reasons and examples rather than one-liners. Fluency and coherence matter more than a perfect accent.
