The full study-abroad application process for Indian students — from shortlisting to offer letter — in clear, ordered steps.
Step 1 — Shortlist courses and universities
Start 10–12 months ahead. Pick your country, course and a balanced list of universities across Safe, Moderate and Ambitious tiers — see how to shortlist universities.
Step 2 — Take your tests
Book IELTS/TOEFL/PTE and, where needed, the GRE or GMAT. Give yourself time to retake if required.
Step 3 — Prepare your documents
Transcripts, SOP, LORs, resume, test scores and passport. A strong SOP and specific LORs make a real difference.
Step 4 — Apply and track deadlines
Submit before your intake’s deadlines — see intakes by country. Applying early improves both admission and scholarship chances.
Step 5 — Accept your offer, then visa
Once you have offers, pick your university, pay the deposit, arrange funds and apply for your student visa.
